Instructor of the Month: Maddison Rowles
Posted on April 19, 2024 in IOTM

New month, new instructor highlight! If you haven't tried out Maddison's classes, this is the time to do it! Her classes are tough yet rewarding. She'll push you to new limits and have you dig deep in order to achieve your personal best. Read on to not only learn more about Maddison's sweat style, but also what she does outside of REV! A few of her past times might surprise you!

What and when was your first REV experience?

My first REV experience was a two hour charity ride for MS back in 2015. The energy in the room and the difficulty of the class had me hooked!

Any advice for first time riders?

Remember that everyone else in the room with you had their “first time” experience. Lean in to the discomfort, your neighbors are there to support you and get you to the finish, and accept that what you put into the ride you directly get in return. Oh, and have fun, don’t take the ride too seriously, life is too short!

When and where do you teach?

Catch me at McHenry Row Wednesdays 6:00 am, Thursdays 7:00 am, and Fridays at 9:00 am!

What do you do when you're not at REV?

I personal train at Under Armour HQ, teach at solidcore, volunteer at my local fire department, and hang out with my two dogs Lola and Betty White!

What is your favorite stretch to do post spin?

Any and all hip openers, for example runners lunge, pigeon etc.

What is your favorite recovery fuel/recipe?

Pure Raw açaí bowls are the best post spin fuel. Their bowls are ginormous, full of nutrients, and fill me up after a tough workout.

What’s the #1 most played song in your phone?

This is a tough one! I’m always listening to new music of all genres, and try not to stick to one song/genre. In class I tend to play a fair amount of mashups and remixes, but in my car it can get weird and I’ll be jamming out to some Rob Bailey or Say Anything. According to Spotify, my #1 played artist of 2019 was Lizzo? All over the place!

When you get 30 minutes of free time, how do you pass the time?

I’m either studying for the fire department, learning more/staying up to date on functional fitness research, hanging with friends, or petting strangers dogs.

If you weren't teaching at REV or working in your current career, what would you want to do?

I would love to be a landscape photographer and work with National Geographic or Discovery traveling the world!

If you could describe yourself in one sentence, what would it be?

This was hard so I had my best friend, Hannah, come up with an answer. “Maddison is the type of person who is going to work as diligently with someone on his/her goals as she would on goals she set for herself; through empowerment, tough love, and plenty of The Office quotes."

You know the drill! For the month of March, all of Maddison’s classes will be “Instructor of the Month” classes. You can purchase any of her rides for $15 on our pricing page, or just use your monthly unlimited membership/regular class packs!
