Get to know your REV Barre Instructors!
Posted on October 16, 2019 in REV Community

Whether you're brand new to barre or you have become a REV Barre lover, we thought it fitting to highlight some of our all star barre team since this is the last week for their open auditions!

All of these women are beautifully unique in their own way, but one thing they all have in common - they took a leap of faith, with limited experience, and applied to become a barre instructor and never looked back.

Meet Amanda! She has the biggest smile that will warm the room - especially when instructing a tough move like chair!

What made you decide to audition for a spot on the REV Barre Team?

Teaching barre was not something I had ever expected to do. Fitness has always been an important part of my life by helping me cope with stress and bring joy, in addition to physical benefits. I had always worked out solo, either running or at the gym, and when I became a client at REV, I realized fitness can also help you become part of a community. So when a former barre instructor announced she was going to hold a training for new barre instructors, I decided to do something totally out of character and try it out. I think part was taking on a challenge I wasn’t sure I could do - the truth is I have struggled with a fear of public speaking for all my life, yet I picked a career and a side job that require me to constantly be in front of people (weird I know). But a big part was the opportunity to bring to others what REV instructors had brought to me - 45 minutes to focus, work hard and accomplish something.

What is your favorite part about teaching?

The people - the other instructors and clients. I have met so many people that I would never have gotten the chance to know. We have inside jokes. We celebrate marriages or new babies or job promotions. We are sad when someone moves away. We all support each other inside and outside the barre studio.

What is your favorite barre move?

Anything in the thigh series, but chair is my absolute favorite. It is the worst and everyone looks annoyed the entire time and they take breaks when they think I am not looking (but I see). But in terms of bang for your buck, it is the best.

Meet Darryll! She's double the trouble - the only barre instructor who also teaches spin!

What made you decide to audition for a spot on the REV Barre Team?

I was teaching barre at another studio for two years, but once I started teaching spin at REV I knew I wanted to make the switch and be part of both teams!

What is your favorite part about teaching?

The clients are the best part. I love seeing the familiar faces in class - helps get me out of bed in the morning!

What is your favorite barre move?

Clamshell and anything inner thigh!

Meet Jackie! Mom of two and total badass!

What made you decide to audition for a spot on the REV Barre Team?

My first experience with barre was taking Janet’s spin/barre class - 30 minutes on the bike followed by 15 minutes of barre. I was hooked after the first class and it started to quickly become my Monday and Friday routine. Barre was the first strength training class I’d taken that gave me the results I wanted-lean muscles. So when she announced they were expanding their barre program, I jumped at the opportunity to go through the program!

What is your favorite part about teaching?

It’s really rewarding to help people achieve their fitness goals and to be able to give my clients 45 minutes to just focus on themselves.

What is your favorite barre move?

I love seat work and my favorite is the clamshell!

Meet Kelsey! One of our most positive and uplifting instructors! It's impossible to leave her class without a smile on your face!

What made you decide to audition for a spot on the REV Barre Team?

The REV community is like no other; incredibly supportive and inspiring. This is such a special team that I knew I needed to be a part of it.

What is your favorite part about teaching?

Seeing my clients find their strength and confidence in the studio; seeing them transform through consistent hard work on a weekly basis; being a part of their journey.

What is your favorite barre move?

I love finding new ways to incorporate props like weighted balls & resistance bands into thigh work!

Meet Nicole! An inspirational, always-smiling, positive light!

What made you decide to audition for a spot on the REV Barre Team?

I wanted to share my passion of fitness with others! I was a client at REV since they opened their doors, and I loved the energy and atmosphere. I saw the impact that their classes had on me, both physically and mentally, and I wanted to do that for others. I also wanted to challenge myself in a different and new way.

What is your favorite part about teaching?

There is nothing like the feeling I get after teaching a class. I feel inspired by the hard working clients in my class, and I feel empowered that I have been a positive part of their day. Seeing clients grow and improve over time, and gaining confidence, is priceless to me.

What is your favorite barre move?

I love chair! It challenges you in the best way and there are so many variations you can do.

Meet Noelle! A dedicated, hardworking, Bulldog Mama!

What made you decide to audition for a spot on the REV Barre Team?

I was a regular client before I decided to pursue REV’s barre training. REV had become my home away from home and I had extra time on my hands having just finished coaching club lacrosse on the side for 10 years. I was ready for a new challenge and knew REV’s barre training would push me outside of my comfort zone. I thought “what do I have to lose?”...so I went for it and it was one of the very best decisions.

What is your favorite part about teaching?

I absolutely love our clients. The time we spend together in class means the world to me. My goal is to encourage and motivate our clients to push beyond their limits so they leave the barre room feeling proud of their effort (and a little sore, too). And if I can make a difference in just one person’s day, I’ve done my job!

What is your favorite barre move?

Wow. It’s seriously impossible to pick just one!! I have at least three favorites for each part of class!

Now that you know a bit more about our barre team - think about applying to become an instructor! This is a rare opportunity and a decision that will change your life! All you need to do is e-mail a 60 second video about why you'd like to become an instructor to careers@revuup.com. The deadline is Sunday night so get out of your comfort zone and apply today!
